York Yankees — so good that he is undefeated.Happ looks to stay undefeated as a Yankee on Monday night when he pitches in the opener of a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.Since being acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays on July 26 for Brandon Drury and Billy McKinney http://www.angelsfanproshop.com/authentic-zack-cozart-jersey , Happ is 5-0 with a 3.10 ERA in seven starts. He also is a leading candidate to get the ball should the Yankees hold onto their current spot in the standings and host the American League wild-card game.More Twins coverageGiants bench coach Meulens to interview with TwinsAfter disappointing season, Sano begins critical offseason for TwinsPhotos of the Week: 9/30/18 – 10/6/18Top Tweets: Local teams give shoutouts to Twins’ MauerLove for Twins’ Mauer off the charts after emotional dayOverall, the 35-year-old free-agent-to-be is 15-6 with a 4.00 ERA in 26 starts this season, his last under a three-year, $36 million contract signed with the Blue Jays ahead of the 2016 season. His resurgence since donning pinstripes has led some to wonder whether he’d be open to returning to New York next season. It is a notion Happ isn’t ready to address just yet, but also hasn’t completely ruled out.“I’d hate to get too far into that, but the one thing that I’ll say is, I’ve been impressed since I came over here with how things have worked so far, and all the baseball-related things have been a positive,” Happ told reporters last week. “So I think I’d be foolish to cross anybody off the list. But, yes, certainly, judging by how the first month has gone, it would be a place that I for sure would consider coming back if there was interest.”Happ bounced back from a rough outing against the Detroit Tigers to hold the A’s to a run and two hits in six-plus innings on Tuesday. The Yankees are 3-3 on their nine-game trip and 2 1/2 games ahead of Oakland in the wild-card race. The Twins will still be without former Yankee Tyler Austin. The first baseman missed Minnesota’s weekend series with the Kansas City Royals because of back stiffness. He’s expected to take batting practice Monday but isn’t likely to start against the Yankees Michael Saunders Jersey , who dealt him to the Twins on July 30 for right-hander Lance Lynn.In 20 games since, Austin posted a .243 average (17-for-70) with seven home runs and 11 RBIs along with an .865 OPS. He was sidelined last week, though, by a bout of back tightness that kept him out of action during a weekend series with the Royals.Twins manager Paul Molitor is optimistic that Austin will return to the lineup sometime during the series.“Obviously, I probably wouldn’t play him right out of the gate after a couple of days off,” Molitor said. “Hopefully, we’ll see him before the end of that series. He’s heading in the right direction.”Miguel Sano will be out for at least the opener, too, as he waits for his bruised left knee to show improvement. Sano injured it last week while sliding into second against the Astros and also sat out the Royals series. An MRI showed no structural damage to the knee, but the Twins are taking their time with the third baseman.“We’re hopeful,” Molitor said. “Each day hopefully he has a little less soreness he has to be concerned about and can start trying to do some things on the field.”Right-hander Kyle Gibson gets the nod for Minnesota, which is 3-7 in its last 10 games after Williams Astudillo hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning of a 3-1 win on Sunday. After posting a 5.28 ERA in August, Gibson bounced back with a solid showing against the Astros last week, allowing just two runs — solo home runs — in seven innings.Gibson is 1-4 with a 7.71 ERA in seven career starts against the Yankees. NEW YORK (AP) — Didi Gregorius was quick when asked if he had a date in mind for his return from a torn elbow ligament.“April Ryan Goins Jersey ,” he blurted. Then he smiled, laughed and added: “We all know that’s not going to happen, but that’s what I want to do. It’s a wait and see ’til everything is cleared, everything is ready to go.”The New York Yankees shortstop tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow while making a throw from left field after a ball bounced off Fenway Park’s Green Monster during Game 2 of the AL Division Series last Oct. 6. He had surgery 11 days later and had a checkup this week.Yankees general manager Brian Cashman says he expects Gregorius back sometime in the summer but has not been more specific.New York added DJ LeMahieu and Troy Tulowitzki to shore up its infield, moves Gregorius thinks improved the roster. Gregorius wasn’t concerned the Yankees would sign a high-priced free agent such as Manny Machado, who plays shortstop and third.“If he comes over, he makes the team better,” Gregorius said Wednesday.Gregorius spoke before the annual Thurman Munson Awards dinner, also attended by Yankees manager Aaron Boone and third baseman Miguel Andujar. Boone doesn’t expect any more moves before the team reports to spring training on Feb. 13.“He’s such a dynamic player for us on both sides of the ball, such a reliable player for us at such an important position,” Boone said, “but hopefully we’ll do our best to hold serve and then look forward to getting a really good player back at some point in the summer.”Gregorius turns 29 on Feb. 18, when he will be at spring training in Tampa, Florida Wily Peralta Jersey , and thinks “hopefully next week I start doing some throwing exercises.”He has no intention of returning as a designated hitter if he can hit before the elbow is ready for a return to the field.“I want to be back completely,” he said. “I just want to make sure everything’s all right before I go out there. I haven’t even thought about hitting before everything.”Gregorius immediately realized the severity of the injury, saying he instantly spoke up: “I think my arm is done.'”Still, he finished the series, which Boston won in four games.“If you have a strong mind, I think you can play through anything,” he said. “I know I didn’t have much strength left, so I played the best that I could.”Andujar also said he would be happy for New York to add Machado. Andujar’s defense was rated 14 runs below average last season by Fangraphs, worst among the 19 players who appeared most often in the major leagues at third base last year,“There’s room for improvement and the team asked me to focus on that area, which I did this offseason, so I feel really good about where I’m going to be at defensively this year,” Andujar said through a translator. “A lot of agility and coordination drills and a lot of drills focused on first step.”Boone played down comments of Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge, who jocularly told TMZ he would be willing to shift positions if the Yankees signed Bryce Harper http://www.royalsfanproshop.com/authentic-ryan-goins-jersey , a move New York has shown no interest in. Boone said adding Harper wasn’t realistic.“I think that was Judgy just having some fun at the Super Bowl,” Boone said. “Judgy would do a lot of things for the team.”Boone had not expected Harper and Machado to remain unsigned this close to spring training.“If you would have asked me to start, I probably would have thought they’d landed at some point before now, but you never know the twists and turns that an offseason takes,” he said.Boone envisions Tulowitzki, injured much of the past two years, will play shortstop regularly but will need days off. Second baseman Gleyber Torres can shift to shortstop on those days and LeMahieu could start at second.“It allows us to really have kind of a 10-, 11-man rotation for nine spots,” he said.Catcher Gary Sanchez, recovering from left shoulder surgery on Nov. 8, hit in a batting cage Wednesday at Tampa and is likely to be hitting on the field when workouts begin Feb. 14.“We may slow play him a little bit the first week of Grapefruit League games,” Boone said.
